The Libertarian party was founded in 1971. They strive to substantially reduce the size and intrusiveness of government and eliminate taxes whenever possible. They believe that honest, peaceful individuals should be able to offer their goods and services to willing consumers without government interference. They believe that people should have the freedom to make their own choices without fear of criminal or civil penalties. They believe that the only responsibility of government, if any, is to protect individuals from force and fraud. They run hundreds of candidates in every election cycle.
